What is Access Consciousness?

Updated: Jun 3, 2023

How to change your life with a question

What is Access Consciousness?

Access Consciousness is a philosophy, or modality, that makes you question everything you knew about life up to this moment. It destroys all judgements and preconceived ideas about how things are supposed to be and invites you into a world of infinite possibilities.

How does it work?

Access has a lot to offer, that includes classes (from 1 hr and up to 5 days), books, podcasts, individual sessions with facilitators from all over the world, body processes, working with animals, clearing statements and clearing loops. The easiest way to get introduced to Access Consciousness is to read a book or take a Zoom class (around USD40) with one of the facilitators.

Access and me

In order to convey the potential of Access as a modality, I interviewed a friend of mine, an Access Consciousness adept and facilitator who introduced me to this philosophy in 2017.

I came across Access Consciousness (AC) when a former classmate of mine became a certified AC facilitator and began talking about this modality on her Instagram. Dasha quickly progressed from educating her Instagram followers to turning it into a successful business and opening a space in St. Petersburg, Russia, to host classes by international AC facilitators.

I observed and took part in what seemed like foolish madness for a while, without much interest or commitment, until I faced a life-altering hardship in 2019. At the time, I thought I knew all there is to know about getting through the tough times, but I struggled to implement my usual life-saving techniques. When all else failed, I turned to my friend and asked for her help.

During my first AC session, I experienced a lot of resistance to the appalling nonsense of this approach. It reminded me of my first encounter with a Buddhist teacher, who, after listening to my sad life story, pronounced an indifferent conclusion: "Everybody suffers". I remember thinking that Buddhist monks can learn a thing or two from the counsellors to make sure they retain their parish.

Although I struggled to recognise the value of the session, I walked away with a question: "What would you choose if money wasn't a problem?" This question helped me make a decision and put an end to the endless misery of the legal battle that was sucking the life out of me. That session with Dasha planted a seed that germinated for a few years until I was ready to embrace Access Consciousness and its teachings.

Dasha Burova answers questions about Access Consciousness and her life

The interview took place in March 2023 and was translated from Russian with minor edits for the purposes of clarity.

R: There are so many teachings and modalities. What makes Access Consciousness ring true to you? What makes it your truth?

D: I was struck by the absence of structure and significance around Access. It wasn't at all clear how to navigate the modality: there were no modules, no instructions, no steps, and no algorithms for one's development. I saw it as a new space of ease and joy, something I'd never came across.

I was introduced to Access through my master of Tibetan yoga pulsing, who already taught me so much about consciousness over the years. But she never advertised the fact that she was AC facilitator because within TYP tradition it wasn't acceptable. For a long time, I thought she was just naturally cheerful and light, seeing things from a different perspective... unlike other masters. When she introduced me to Access, it all came together! I understood the source of all that lightness, joy, and relaxed presence. Once, she gave me an English recording about money, and it shocked me to the core! While speaking about money, people joked so much it enraged me! But somehow I got a taste of what it feels like when you have no tension around the topic of money but pure fun. That's what got me!

Another thing was the swiftness of transformation, it's just phenomenal! And it makes sense because awareness is quick, it's just that there aren't too many modalities based on it. I always had that in me, so I quickly aligned with Access.

I was always interested in the material world: I love to dress well and extravagantly, eat well, live surrounded by exquisite things, and travel a lot. That is precisely the way AC facilitators lead their lives, not setting material against spiritual and vice versa. It was a perfect match for me!

Later on, I fell in love with particular people whom I invited to Russia. We grew closer and today they are my friends, beautiful, unique, broad-minded beings with curious hobbies and interests beyond Access. I got into an environment that felt familiar, and it allowed me to escape the reality that at the time felt like the ultimate dream.

R: What specific life changes and achievements (be that material possessions or mindset reprogramming) do you attribute to the effects of AC?

D: I feel like I can spend the rest of my life answering this question because I am made of Access and of some experiences I had before being introduced to AC. What I mean by that, is that 8 years of Access transformed me so much that I barely resemble the person I used to be 8-10 years ago. Today, I have two horses (?!), two kids (?!), I've been married for five years and in a relationship for eight, I have a truly fantastic house, an award-winning garden of my dreams, I get invited to spend a weekend on a yacht on the other side of the world, I get invited to witness the birth of a human being... all of this, it makes me feel like I am watching a beautiful movie. It feels like a dream! And each and every year I sink even deeper into the euphoria that is my life. The intensity and beauty of accidental moments often make me cry. The feeling is so powerful I can barely stand on my feet, overwhelmed.

At last, I no longer doubt or question myself, I am in awe of myself. There are still many things I want and seek but all I have today is magnificent. In the past, I used to agonise over a relationship or longing for a relationship; I had a face with acne and oh, so many ambitions. Today, I admire myself in the mirror, even when I have a fever blister. I look better, I communicate better, I express myself better, and I have a better relationship with my body. I guess, you can see that I am an absolute fan of AC tools!

What is the most common change you observe in people you facilitate?

I think the main thing that changes is a relationship with self. Magic happens when we add vulnerability to our relationship with self and then fine-tune it using AC tools. All aspects of life get transformed immediately. I can only marvel at the way it worked out and the way the Universe reassures the person that they are indeed on the right path.

How does Access Consciousness set people free?

Access has a very simple idea at its core: choice creates. While to me this sounds simple, it might make no sense to other people. And this fact alone contains multitudes! A person in the modern world is deprived of choice. Everything is preset and preconditioned: the way things are supposed to look, how, when and what must happen in your life, etc. It's as if we are just playing a supportive role in someone else's story and aren't allowed to be the main character. But you can do things the way no one has done them before! We have an infinite choice but more often than not a person chooses between two options, and neither of them works. Access resets this reality of compromises. That is why AC is a breath of fresh air. A choice is supposed to be as easy as breathing.

How does Access Consciousness work with Mental Health?

I would have been able to answer that question if I had the language around it, but I'm not familiar with the medical, psychological, or psychiatric context. I know the names of some diagnoses and symptomology and suspect that some of my clients might be diagnosed with mental illness, however, I don't look at it that way. I don't see mental illness as something unchangeable.

Speaking of treatments, there is a military hospital in the United States that offers Access Bars and other body processes as a treatment for soldiers with PTSD. There is an entire branch of Access around ADHD and Autism that looks at these disorders without a preconceived judgement. Access Consciousness doesn't consider ADHD or Autism a label but an ability, a sensitivity to the environment so attuned, so powerful that it drives a person crazy if she decides to function as a 'normal' person. There are tools that ease the pain of living with these diagnoses and educate people about their own abilities to show up differently in this world. With these tools, people gain an understanding of how to use the diagnosis as an ability or skill rather than seeing it as a disadvantage. For instance, there are movies that Access recommends watching to challenge societal points of view and gain clarity around what Autism or ADHD really is. Watching those films while having your Bars run is just the tip of the iceberg of what Access has to offer to people.

I myself am a person who feels deeply. In the past, I used to think that those states were depression but I now know that it's just an amplitude of my awareness. Whenever I go through a change or transformation I may experience its intensity in the body. Today, I have compassion, acceptance and allowance towards those states. I no longer see it as a problem to solve or an impediment to living a full joyful life of ease. I have plenty of tools to support me through the intense moments of feeling something deeply. When you stop using your diagnosis against yourself and learn to use it as a contribution, you can create a phenomenal reality!
